I used to be obsessed with designing and colouring patterns as a child – there’s something very satisfying about the repetition. New activity book Explore & Draw Patterns by Owen Davey (we love his books Knight Night and Laika the Astronaut) and Georgia Amson-Bradshaw (Ivy Press, RRP £8.99) looks at all kinds of prints and patterns and invites children to spot, colour, copy, complete and create them in unusual and interesting ways (using their toes, for example). A lovely book that would make a great pressie for an arty child.
