Ergo New Generation Baby Carrier

March 11, 2008. Leave a Comment

newgen.jpgI own a Baby Bjorn Active which I loved for the few months that I was able to use it but the bambino just feels too heavy now. Baby carriers are great but for the petite amongst us, it can be quite difficult to avoid feeling some pain. I keep seeing Keri Russell (used to be in ‘Felicity’ and was also in ‘Mission Impossible 3’) carrying her little baby boy River around and I’m thinking “Her baby is the same age as mine! How come she can carry hers around?!)

She was recently spotted out and about carrying him in the Ergo New Generation Carrier. The ergonomic design disperses most of the baby’s weight between the hips and spine which reduces the spine compression that you get when the baby hangs around the crotch, like it does for instance, with the Baby Bjorn.

You can carry up to 60lbs (the thought of carrying 60lbs makes me seize up…) whereas Baby Bjorn’s can only be used up to 26lbs. It can also be worn on the front, back, or hip – Baby Bjorn’s Active’s are only used on your front, plus it has several other features including a sleeping hood for when they’re dozing away whilst you’re out and about. They’re made from 100% canvas with a 100% cotton lining.

Any down side – It doesn’t look very ‘sexy’… Mind you, this could be one of those times when I’d happily sacrifice looking stylish for my back and shoulders being all in one piece…

I am contemplating buying a new baby carrier (I need to figure out a sales pitch to the boyf….or pretend we’ve always owned it….or pretend it was a gift…) so I intend to try a few over the next few weeks but I do like the look of this one.
