This is the most unusual soft toy that I have seen for a while and far surpasses the Christian Lacroix Belly Monster that we featured a few months back.
I was quite startled by the arresting image of this Embroidered Teddy Bear by Couture Lab but I have to say, even though it is a little bit scary, it is absolutely stunning. You need to go over to the site and zoom in on the unbelievable embroidered detail. They are truly a labour of love.
They’ve been hand-embroidered by female artisans from The Forward Group that work in deprived and HIV stricken areas in countries like Zambia, Zimbabwe, and The Congo. Each bear depicts a unique happy scene created from embroidery and patchwork applique and they’re one off collectable pieces.
You can see a selection of them over at Couture Lab where they start at £139 for the small to £168 for the large and there denim versions also. This is definitely for the teddy bear fanatics amongst you and would also make an a-mazing christening gift if you had this kind of budget and wanted to really blow all the other gifts out of the water.
