I’m partial to blankets, cushions, and embroidered delights so when I got to check out the work of Nicola McGhee, a Glasgow based knitwear designer that’s worked for the likes of Kenneth Cole and Gap, I was in for a treat. Under the name Mini McGhee, she’s struck out on her own to use timeless handcraft techniques for her range of contemporary baby blankets and nursery accessories.
Using yarn spun in the UK and sourcing local and vintage fabrics, delights include the felted striped lambswool blankets, £46, which feel absolutely divine, her vintage drawstring bags, £22-£29, which feature exquisite embroidery mixed with vintage fabric and ribbons and are all one-of-a-kind (you may recall I featured her santa sacks last Christmas), and her soft lambswool cushions, £39 in chunky, standout stripes. Available from Peace & Jam and Velvet Boutique.
