I’m a bit fascinated by the concept of Easidream (R), the baby sleep aid that mimics certain sensations from the womb and recreates them in your baby’s cot.
Suitable from birth and able to be used inside pretty much most cots or under a moses basket, it features a slim line ventilated platform that fits under your baby’s cot mattress. Air tubing links the mattress and the control unit and for up to 40 minutes, your baby can be gently rocked from head to toe or rolled from side to side. It’s pneumatically powered (works off compressed air) so no need to sweat the possibility of electric currents in the cot and it works off two speeds – one that’s in time with mum’s resting heartbeat and a slower one for when you’re weaning them off it.
If you’re wondering what the sheep’s got to do with it – that’s Ewan and he’s attached to the cot bars by his tail or sat beside the moses basket and he gives off four soothing heartbeat sound combinations and a glowing pink light.
This is one of those products that’s about innovation combined with desperation because I know people who have had serious sleep deprivation that would have jumped at the possibility of something that would give them their lives back. That said, sleep comes at a price and the RRP is £249, although the launch offer which runs till 30th September has it reduced to £199. This is one you pitch as an ‘investment piece’… Ewan can be purchased separately for £24 (£19 pre launch). From Easidream
