Regular readers will know the saga of Kitty’s hair. Don’t get me wrong, her curls are completely glorious and much coveted (and commented on when we’re out and about), but taming them and keeping tangles at bay is hard work. I’m forever trying shampoos, conditioners and detangling sprays that promise so much, but fail to deliver, either having zero effect or weighing her curls down. So, I was really excited to try out Curly Ellie, a haircare brand tailored specifically for so-called difficult curly, frizzy, tangly hair. Founder Zaina came up with the idea after she struggled to find a ‘no tears’ solution for her daughter Ellie. The range – which comprises shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, detangling spray and intensive mask – is free from nasties and synthetic fragrances, vegan and gluten free and uses an array of natural ingredients, including aloe vera leaf juice, shea butter, quinoa and sweet almond oil, all perfect for sensitive scalps. What I like about it is that it smooths and calms Kitty’s hair, without ruining her curls – they are springier than ever. The bright packaging is fun and the set of travel essentials will definitely be coming on holiday with us and it’s reasonably priced, with shampoo and conditioner at £5.49 each.
