Despite the fact that I still take a lot of photos on mine, iPhones are pants for taking pictures. Well at least that was until I downloaded the pure genius that is Hipstamatic, an app that adds a filter so that your pics look distinctly retro with a high nostalgic quality, just like they used to be when we were kids and beyond.
Described as ‘digital photography never looked so analog’, the Hipstamatic iPhone app’s based on the style of plastic toy cameras from the past and the app comes with three different lens, two flashes, a selection of films and the options to soup it up with other add-on’s. A steal at £1.19, it’s dead easy to use and one of the things I particularly like about it, is that it instantly cools up most photos even if you’re not great at taking pics (that would be me). The only dodge photo I’ve taken was one of our bathroom which we’ve been preparing to get done by removing tiles etc – it made it look like a busted out crack den…
The pics shown are a selection of not-such-a-baby-anymore Nia, who turned one a couple of weeks back (I’ve been very naughty about mentioning it properly), with the middle pic showing her surveying her handy work after wrecking their bedroom on her birthday and the other two from bedtime a couple of nights ago.
Like a lot of parents, we want to capture random and special moments and more often than not, I don’t have the camera to hand but I invariably do have my iPhone, and Hipstamatic will have you taking pictures you want to frame and show off. Available from iTunes for £1.19, this is a must-have iPhone app.
