I’m always on the lookout for organic kidswear brands that offer something a little bit different which US designer Shak-Shuka delivers in spades. While I’m a die-hard colour fiend that’s dressed her kids in a lot of Scandi prints, I also love more subtle patterns, and with prints like ‘High Seas’ (top) which you could go the whole hog and accessorise with Mini Moderns ‘Whitby’ wallpaper, as well the super chic ‘June Leaf’ print (above) across rompers, dresses, tops, hoodies, and t-shirts, it was instant love.
The designer Stefanie Lyn looks to children’s books and vintage wallpaper as her sources of inspiration and she straddles a wonderful line between whimsy and just plain cool. The A-line dresses with their pockets are divine.
There’s also a burst of brights of silhouette prints of tools, birds and flowers and each piece can be worn through the seasons. It’s at the mid-price end with prices ranging from €28-€45 available from Shak-Shuka where they’re currently the only stockist in Europe and I can certainly think of a couple of special babies I have earmarked for rompers.
