I love bumping into people who know BG especially when I’ve forgotten to take off my name badge and am on a London tube! This is how I met the founder of Dandy Dodo, a fashion brand for kids featuring offbeat, edgy, but very much wearable and fun pieces in a limited edition collection (30 per style) using lots of rare fabrics. Inspired by her own daughter, what’s resulted is a collection of delights for £8.50-£50.
Of course I hotfooted it home to check out the site (bloody iPhone battery was low…as usual) and was squealing in my usual overexcited shopping palpitation way. There’s much to love from bolshy shorts with character in the camo and chrysanthemum print, to stunning dresses (£30-£35) with ‘ethnic’ and tribal influence and embellishment like the ruffles, to winning playsuits and shirt style baby rompers and spotty and houndstooth bubble rompers in inspired colours for baby girls, £22 – click on the pictures in the gallery below to see even more of the collection.
I’m also hearting their skirts (£28-£35) – their yellow, blue, black and star ruffle skirt is so amazing, I want to wear it myself, and super well priced booties (£8.50) especially (you guessed it), the vibrant multicoloured pair. There’s coats and jackets (who can think about such things in this weather?) and tops as well.
Dandy Dodo are a seriously cool Brit find who have bucked the trend for going distinctly Brit and preppy, and have taken snippets of inspiration from all over the globe to create a cool brand full of personality. One to watch…and click at.
