We have a food issue in this house. Lola basically doesn’t like eating. She will eat a small selection of fruit, but she’ll turn down so much – including things like chocolate cake. With weaning the baby and dealing with Lola’s ‘issues’ I have decided it’s time to take a fresh approach and she’s been a lot more active in the kitchen.
Smoothies have been a great way to get some goodness in her, and when she’s not looking I can slip in a few extra bits (like oats). I’ve been hunting for inspiration of things that I think we can make together and spotted these smoothie ice-lollies. I know she will be able to make them, and, because they’re a lolly, she’ll think of them as a treat. Baby too will be able to enjoy gnawing on them (we’ll skip the honey and the chocolate versions!). A win all round.
The full ingredients and instructions are on Jamie Oliver’s website, but basically, throw the fruit, oats and some apple juice in to a blender and then freeze for a couple of hours. Easy. And it’s never to wet and cold for an ice lolly, right?
