I’m not a big fan of the classic denim jean on children. I can’t quite put my finger on it but I’d rather they wait a few years before they’re in denim, after all, it will be all they wear once they’re teenagers. My eye has been caught by coloured jeans; either in denim, cotton twill or needle cord there are some beauties out there this season.
First up are Monkee Genes – organic jeans made in sweatshop free production. They come in plum baby cord, inky blue, inky black, chilli red and electric blue and (generous) sizes 2 – 8 years. I am loving the electric blue and Juicy Tots tell me they are currently waiting for a back order on electric blue and inky black. If you want to guarantee a pair email to get your name on the waiting list. £39.99 from Juicy Tots.
Stella McCartney’s new season collection includes a huge range of skinny jeans and trousers. The colouring is divine with a slightly vintage photo feel to them I think they would look really good with Dandy Star tees. She has styles for both girls (above left) and boys (above right) in sizes 2 – 12 years. Designs shown priced at £55.
Our next jeans are bright enough to brighten up the cold dark nights for sure. Polarn O.Pyret have returned with their best selling slim fit cotton twill trousers in red (above left) and slate. They have an adjustable low slung waist. They are available in sizes 2 – 11 and priced at £25.
Tootsa MacGinty are all about the unisex and their colourful jeans come in red and lemon (above right). Sizes start at 3 – 6 months and go up to 4 – 5 years. £26.
Boden have a fab range of coloured jeans for girls and a really dingy range for boys. In either cord or twill they have already proved popular and some styles are on back order or sold out already. Sizes 3 – 14 years priced from £20 to £24.
