Last week we headed to a local theatre for the premire of the new stage adaptation by Big Wooden Horse of Stuck by Oliver Jeffers. Being massive Oliver Jeffers fans and having read Eve’s excellent review of their production of The Way Back Home we were looking forward to a treat.
In order to make the story work on stage it has been changed a little to include Floyd’s mother who to entertain a bored Floyd begins to make up a story. Floyd’s mother is a bit uptight and finds the premise of throwing things into a tree to loose a kite hard to deal with at first but the fun soon opens up and more and more things become stuck.
There is lots of audience participation which the children loved (all except one poor child behind us who shouted ‘No, make it stop.’ when everyone else shouted ‘Yes…‘). The show is filled with catchy songs and quirky props – we especially loved the whale scene. We took children aged 1, 3 and 5 who all loved it.
The show is touring throughout the UK and there are shows available from now until November 2012 currently.
