The pure joy that is the world of books doesn’t need to stay between the pages. Meeting authors and going to events promoting the magic of reading is an experience worth having.
As in Spring, Autumn sees a raft of Children’s Literature Festivals across the country.
Bath Festival of Children’s Literature has a whole host of events between 28th September and 7th October for all ages. They have the almighty Oliver Jeffers in attendance and incredibly his event still has tickets remaining.
Ilkley Literature Festival has a colourful programme of theatre, ballet, and science workshops alongside their literary offerings. 28th September – 14th October.
Appledore Book Festival has some events just for children including a session with Anthony Browne all about adding emotion to your stories. 28th September – 7th October.
The Cheltenham Literature Festival has a children’s division in the shape of Book It! with parties, workshops, authors, family fun days and more. 5th – 14th October.
As part of the Chester Festivals, GobbleDEEbook Festival is a self-contained children’s festival from 20th – 27th October. Lots to inspire including a family workshop with John Hegley (7+).
Last but by no means least my own dear Winchester hosts the Wessex Children’s Book Festival at the Discovery Centre. A wide variety here including a session with the magnificent Axel Scheffler. 30th October – 2nd November.
