Bubble highlights

July 15, 2014. Leave a Comment

photo (88)

I whizzed up to London yesterday, for a fleeting visit to Bubble, the childrenswear trade show. I didn’t have much time there, but I thought I’d share a few of my favourite things. I loved some of the more unusual patterns and prints – notably Milk & Biscuits‘ divine swimming pool design on dress (my favourite find of the day that will inevitably find its way into Kitty’s wardrobe!) and a coat, Beau Loves‘ ants (on clothing and bedding) and Poppy’s mix of tools and utensils on a cute A-line frock (very mid-century modern). Special mention must also go to Little Green Radicals for their otter jumper – I’ve been waiting for otters to take on the owl mantle – and Aden & Anais for their vintage circus muslin collection.

photo (87)Palette-wise, there was a lot of grey around, tempered with accents of blues and teals and the occasional pop of neon and fluoro brights (a la The Bright Company). In terms of trends, woodland creatures are still big news for autumn/winter, with owls and foxes giving up a little ground to squirrels and hedgehogs (see Toby Tiger’s dungarees). My new discoveries were Spanish label Be Lucky‘s boyswear, Danish company Nature Zoo’s crocheted toys and LuluZulu’s knitted hats/masks. The Britt Bear bear ears that were a press gift have proved a big hit with my two as well.
