Natalie writes…I think it’s fairly safe to say that I’m a dedicated fan of Swedish toy giant Brio so the palpitation meter went into overdrive a couple of months back when I noted that changing furniture was in there range. ‘Where is it stocked? How much?’ my mind raced and finally it’s in stock at Nubie, a hotspot for modern goodies for kids.
Straight off the bat, the Brio changing table (£185) on the left avoids the twee route often chosen by changing table designers (‘natural’ woods that don’t quite fit with the rest of your furniture), and instead it’s strong, clean lines, with a proper drawer instead of ‘just’ shelving. Even though it’s white (I hope they bring out more colours), it’s far from neutral with its strong profile and modern edginess. It’s a proper piece of furniture. Often I look at changing tables and they’re a bit on the skinny side with their frame (basically not too far off a basic shelf) but the Brio changing table has full side panels.
On the right is their chest of drawers with a changing styled top (£200), that will transcend the months of copious changes and just stylishly exist as a sturdy pair of drawers that the little things won’t be falling down the back of.
Both pieces are made from American poplar and MDF and feature the Brio logo subtly placed. There’s also a cot top changer (£50) but this only fits on the Brio cot, not the Brio Sleep (the cotbed).
Naturally, Brio’s changing furniture looks very at home with their cots which we’re huge fans of, with both the cot and the Brio Sleep being available in cool colours like red, lime, and yellow.
