Recently one of my good buddies asked me if I knew of any books to help pre-schoolers grasp the concept of moving home. Off the top of my head I couldn’t think of anything so I did a bit of digging. I had hoped there would be a Maisy book as there seems to be so many useful ‘firsts’ in her back catalogue but I could not find one at all. I did find several books which are all pitched at the pre-school and toddler age bracket.
Usbourne Books have a whole series dedicated to first experiences and their Moving House book gets great reviews on Amazon for the three plus age range while the sticker book is favoured for under threes. The Berenstain Bears’ Moving Day is the kind of book you could have in your collection anyway as their stories are always entertaining. First Times’ Moving House uses photographs and drawings to illustrate the text. It is aimed at pre-school to primary age and includes notes for parents and teachers on dealing with the emotional issues of moving. Old House, New House is a simple picture book which describes the ups and downs of moving.
Do you have any books for moving house which have helped your children? Or any other moving tips you could share with us? Let us know in the comments section.
