Finn recently received a box from Bookbuggy through the post for us to review. It contained three different books – one was interactive, one about touch and feel and the last was a Christmas book with high-contrast colours. Bookbuggy is a more of a book discovery service, so we got books I haven’t seen before and I was impressed.
You sign up and tell them a few details about your little one, their experts (teachers and publishers) then use this information to select books based on your child’s age, interests, stage of development and any additional needs they may have. The child then gets a monthly parcel of three or four books addressed to them. What’s more, you can give them feedback including any important events going on in their life, and they’ll use this to tailor your selection further. We have a lot of books in this house, so part of the information I supplied was just that.
The cost of the package depends on how long you subscribe for – a monthly subscription, which you can opt out of easily, is £21.95 but if you subscribe for a year, it reduces to £18.75 a month. I totalled up the RRP for my books, and it’s a couple of pounds less than the monthly package, but if you factor in the cost of shipping plus the convenience it’s a great deal and would make a great Christmas gift. The excitement of the children receiving books through the post and watching Lola sit with Finn to read was priceless.
