I challenge you to find me a parent who hasn’t bought a sleep aid for a their baby. We tried pretty much everything with Alfie, but, in the end, the combination of a hairdryer, plus any number of ‘soft friends’ and, of course, an adult in the room ever worked to send him off. I wish Bebies had been around – a combination of teddy, white noise machine and comforter, these cute toys have a sound unit that can either play soothing sounds, a lullaby or parents’ recorded voices for 15, 30, 45 or 60 minutes. It is also activated if that baby stirs in the night. There are four cute characters to choose from: Milo the Monkey, Dusty the Donkey, Hettie the Hippo and Felix the Fox and each comes with a strap to attach to cot, buggy or carseat. As if that weren’t helpful enough, there’s also a dummy holder and a glow-in-the-dark tag to avoid dead-of-night scrabbling around on the floor. Bebies cost £34.99 each, with the option to personalise for a further £4.99. Great for gifting – just think, if it works you’ll have given the greatest gift of all!
