In my quest to find a new baby carrier, I have come across what can only be described as a super sexy, stylish yet practical number from Baby Bisou, a relatively new American brand.
Its design is an ultra modern take on the age old Mei Tai carrier which has been used in Asia for centuries.
Designed to be totally functional and comfortable, they must be, because women in Asia used to use these to carry their child on their back whilst they worked! They were more comfortable because they could be worn front or back and had the weight distributed across the hips, which reduces spine compression caused by your baby dangling around your crotch.
You can breastfeed in this, it lasts for quite a long time (up to 40lbs), it’s not fiddly with lots of stuff dangling all over the gaff, and it’s made from 100% breathable cotton. I don’t plan to be working like a trojan horse with the bambino on my back all day, however considering that I can’t spend more than ten minutes with her in the Baby Bjorn before feeling like I’m going to collapse like a broken down donkey (she is heavy), using an age-old design like this could be the solution!
I think that Baby Bisou are going to really take off because they are soooo unusual. I’m all for function, but when it comes with style, you’re onto a winner. There are some really stunning fabrics used and there is something to suit every taste. Baby Bisou carriers are a very reasonable $125 which is at the current site rate £66.22.
