Let it be known that I am hopeless at posting things and I have only just this morning managed to post a 2nd birthday gift which has been waiting since last May. I know – shocking! Now that I have *finally* handed it over to the Royal Mail I feel able to share it with you.
Djeco’s Animal Lotto is a superb game to introduce young children to the concept of board games with rules and turn taking. It is a simple bingo style game with five animal themed boards and thirty corresponding animal tiles. You draw tiles out of the box, match them to the correct card and the person to fill their card first is the winner. Don’t be thinking you need to go ahead and find a bunch of toddlers to play with, it works just as well with one toddler. In the early newborn days last year I found it a really good way to play with my toddler while breast feeding my baby. She would lay out the cards on the floor and I would pull out one tile at a time for her to match. These days she likes to gather her toys in a circle and lead the game herself.
