Man, this is a far cry from the pine bunkbed that I had as a child – both in design and price – €2100 to be precise!
The Amber in the Sky Bunk Bed by Perludi is the creation of Austrian designer Thomas Maitz, and is 100% recyclable, beautiful design. There’s no glue, and it’s made from a newly developed composite material combining European birchwood and Austrian loden, which is basically 100% wool, wear resistant, fleece fabric. They stretch it over the wood to act as joining elements, so no glue or dowels.
The lower bunk can be a play area and when you have two tots, you can put a mattress in to take it to full bunk bed mode.
As you can see by the fairly tall child in the pic, there’s plenty of headroom but surprisingly, the overall height of the bed is around 135cm so it also works well in low ceiling spaces like flats and newer builds.
You can wipe down the surfaces of the bed with a damp cloth or soft brush, or even run the vacuum cleaner over it.
Love it! Lots of clean lines, round edges, and a completely contemporary take on the bunk bed concept. Waaaay out of my price range though! This is not the type of thing I can slip in the house under the boyf’s nose… If it’s in your price range, its surprisingly only €27 for delivery.
