A Year in My Life: Be Creative Every Day

January 21, 2016. Leave a Comment

A Year in My Life

I like to give Alfie’s friends creative gifts, as I know what’s it’s like to have a home overrun with toys, so craft kits and activity books are always winners. Sketch-, doodle-, scrap-book/journal A Year in My Life: Be Creative Every Day by Lucy Menzies, illustrated by Tilly (Ivy Kids, RRP £6.99) is going straight to the top of my go-to gift list. It’s a brilliant idea – do one creative thing every day for a year – beautifully enhanced by the quirky illustrations. There are so many diverse suggestions in there, from ‘Make a list of five things you saw today beginning with the letter P.’ to ‘Pretend you morphed into a Martian. Draw your space self.’ via ‘What would today win an award for?’ and ‘Design your dream bedroom.’ I think it would make a fab five-minute after-school activity to explore and discuss together – probably best suited to over sixes.
