Pregnancy is eternally fascinating to children of all ages, but we’re often coy about explaining it to them. 9 Months: A Month-by-Month Guide to Pregnancy for the Family to Share (Frances Lincoln, RRP £12.99) is a beautiful new book, written by the lovely Courtney and Esther at Babyccino Kids (*waves*), which aims to explain the process of growing a baby month by month, in an honest, sensitive way, without euphemisms. The writers have nine children between them, so have a fair bit of experience (of both pregnancy and explanation) between them. Packed with interesting facts that will appeal to children (the baby starts off with a tail, feeling the baby moving is like the bubbles you feel in your mouth when you have a fizzy drink), accompanied by Lizzy Stewart’s gorgeous illustrations, it’s a great gift for a sibling-to-be. It’s aimed at toddlers, but bound to spark questions from and discussion with older children as well.
