Natalie writes…Innovations in babywear have taken some great strides with a fab range of temperature regulating clothing for babies made of a fabric developed by Nasa by London based company 37°.
Oeko-Tex standard 100 certified (you can rest assured that it’s free of more than 100 harmful substances) and machine washable, this smart fabric maintains and regulates your babies temperature by storing their heat in the fibre and releasing it when needed so that a constant average temperature of 37° is achieved.
After a visit from the health visitor a few weeks before I was due to give birth to the bambino, I became obsessed/petrified about temperature and I know that many other parents share my fears so this is certainly the type of clothing that’s bound to be a hit, particularly with newborns.
Invented by Karen Welman (she’s been nominated for Inventor of the Year) and Suzie Holland, a textile designer, if you need any more reassurance of how much kudos the 37° gear has, just ask the nurses at Great Ormond Street Hospital who love it. This fabric is also used in extreme sportswear such as skiwear.
The range comprises of short sleeve vests, playsuits, babygro’s, pyjama’s, sleepsacks, and blankets with prices ranging between a very affordable £15 to £40 in their signature design (pictured) or their embroidered option. Love it!
