The spookiest night of the year is fast creeping up on us, so I thought I’d put together a few alternatives to cheap tulle and razor-sharp thin plastic dressing up ideas that you might get more than just one wear out of (most of last year’s selection is still available too, if you want even more ideas). My two are too little to go trick or treating, but Alfie does enjoy answering the door to our neighbouring children while dressed up. Last year, he wore Gap’s glow-in-the-dark skeleton pyjamas, this year we’ve opted for Lindex‘s version, about £12, while Kitty will be sporting a super-scary ghost-covered black romper from H&M (bought in August, now sadly sold out).
An equally cute ghost option is this t-shirt from Little Chook, £15, available in sizes from six months to 7 years.
But if you want to go all out for the littlest member of your family, The Miniature Knit Shop‘s owl hat and booties are for you. A hoot at £75.
Again at the (cough) slightly expensive end of the fancy dress spectrum (but how fabulous?) is this magician cape, hat and wand set by Mouche, about £85, Smallable. Abracadabra!
Miaow! This corduroy pinafore by Wild Things Funky Little Dresses makes a great party dress year-round and will be beloved of all small girls – it even has a tiny bell on the front. £42, Folksy.
We haven’t mentioned owls for at least a minute, so definitely time for another twit twoo. Adore these autumnal-toned owl wings from Big Bird’s Boutique, from £28.
Another hat combo comes from ultra-hip brand Oeuf NYC. If the cat ears and clawed gloves don’t frighten you, the £99 price tag might (they’re made from alpaca wool, ok?), Couverture and the Garb Store.
If you’ve got a howl at the moon kinda kid (or you just want a quick Halloween fix for yourself) snap up Zoe de Las Cases cool cardboard wolf masks, £10.50, Molly Meg.
Kat featured The Dressing Up Chest recently, so I decided to check out their Halloween offerings and discovered this simple, timeless Little Witch outfit, £45. Spellbinding.
And finally… You can’t go far wrong with a terrifying crazy pumpkin face, so here’s one on a t-shirt courtesy of Munster Kids, £28, Alex & Alexa. Happy Halloweening!
