Neee-oowww! Planes and all things aeronautical are flavour of the month here in Brighton, so I couldn’t resist bringing you a round of goodies for your little high flyer’s room. We’ve raved about Paperboy’s wallpaper designs in the past and their latest, Spitfire (which celebrates the 75th anniversary year of the iconic World War II aircraft) is no exception, featuring graffiti stencil-style planes in four cool colourways. £60 per roll, Paperboy – due to be released any day now!
I spotted this a while ago and pinned it on Pinterest (check it out if you aren’t already totally addicted) for a future mention. What do I love about it? The colours. The graphic shapes. The 50s feel. The stars. Just about everything. $36, Modern Pop.
My goodness, this floor cushion is breathtakingly expensive, but boy is it fabulous! And it’s over a metre long. And leather. So, in my book, that’s more than enough justification. Perfect for lounging or zooming, it’s also versatile. €397.50 (plus p&p, but what’s a few more euros on top of that!), Pakhuis Oost at Little Zebra.
Our Children’s Gorilla is one of my go-to brands for cutting-edge kids’ design and I’ve had this hook on my wish list for Alfie’s room for aeons. Sleek, 60s-style design at its best. €25, Wannekes.
Muusa’s helicopter cushion is all kinds of gorgeous. Cream linen with grey and beige wool felt applique may not be the most practical colours and fabrics for children, but who cares? €51, Kids Love Design.
Nat alerted me to this colourful ‘Flying High’ bedlinen. Crisp white plastered with blue clouds, crimson planes and lime green helicopters, it’s perfect for mini pilots. From £12 for a pillowcase, £40 for a single duvet cover, Designers Guild.
I’ve mentioned the biplane shelves Granny Boo bought for Alfie’s birthday before, but they are truly an essential for an aviation-themed room. We use ours for Mr Men books and our London in a Bag, but you can display anything you want! £56, GLTC.

We adore all things Minimoderns, so I couldn’t resist including their wonderful Hot Air Balloon rug. Yes, it’s an investment piece, but that lush purple hand-tufted wool is pretty hard to resist. Actually, maybe it should reside in your room until the kids are older? £495, Minimoderns Shoppe.
And the perfect toy to complement your decor? Why this Janod magnetic helicopter, natch! Cute, c0lourful and fun, with a jolly pilot – what’s not to like? Chocks away! £14.25, Clockwork Mouse.
