We have been putting the BiCare Fix car seat from Casualplay to the test. It’s hard to write about a car seat because we all know that safety is paramount and everything else is normally just frills. However, the BiCare Fix car seat is particularly good when it comes to safety because it allows children to travel for longer in the safer rear facing position – from birth to 18kg/40lbs (approx 4 years) but also allows forward facing from 9Kg too – so it’s the best of both worlds. It comes with Isofix connection and it really is simple to fit. I worry when I fit carseats and always get a ‘responsible adult’ to check I have fitted correctly, but with this BiCare Fix it actually felt really sturdy and secure and I was confident I had fitted it correctly!
Finn is not a little baby. He’s a big, heavy, strong, tall boy so I wasn’t sure that he would be comfy. But he clearly is as you can see. He doesn’t grumble and he actually looks comfy. You just adjust the head support as the child grows and the harness adapts automatically. I love that. There are three positions of recline and a Air Flow System to help keep baby cool. It’s bulky, but that’s because it’s robust and functional. I do like that you can remove the cover without adjusting the harness, we all know what a pain in the butt these things can be.
I have not used with a newborn so can’t comment on that aspect in detail but it’s worth noting it comes with a newborn insert so perfectly safe and comfy but will be heavy to carry and there’s no carry handle. I had a really heavy carseat when Finn was newborn and it was a ball-ache to carry post c-section so worth thinking about that. However, like I said. Safety first.
The Casualplay BiCare Fix will set you back £199.99 (Toys R Us) and it’s worth every penny. Remember you won’t need to change carseats and it comes with an Isofix base stand, so it’s a great buy. I wish we had bought this one. I’ll be sorry to end my loan of it!
