We can’t get enough of Al MacCuish’s Operation Alphabet and it looks as though his second children’s book, The Bee Who Spoke (Thames & Hudson, RRP £8.95) will be joining it on the bedtime favourites shelf. It tells the story of Belle, a little girl out on a bike ride, who falls off and into a big adventure. She meets a talking bee who introduces her to the wonders of the natural world by exploring plants and animals along the way. Just lovely and Rebecca Gibbon’s fab illustrations render it a beautiful gift.
