Ruth Green is one of BG’s favourite illustrators and her first book, Noisy Neighbours, is a bedtime staple here. Her second story Stanley’s Plan (Tate Kids, RRP 9.99) is equally joyous. It tells the tale of a permanently hungry dog (the eponymous Stanley) and his quest to devour a pie, with the help of his animal friends, all accompanied by print-maker Green’s gloriously retro illustrations. There’s even a moral to the story – good things come to those who wait. The rhymes and cute creatures are sure to be a hit with toddlers and preschoolers.
