Janik Coat’s Hippoposites has long been a favourite in our house – the colourful illustrations and humour all make for a great children’s book. I’m delighted to report that the follow up, Rhymoceros (Abrams, RRP £9.99), is just as good and always gets Kitty’s giggling – sometimes a bit too much before bed - particularly the pairing of stinky and inky (I like tired and wired). The bright blue rhino can be found in myriad entertaining situations and there are a few touchy feely pages added into the mix – furry, bumpy, mossy and quilted – for multi-sensory interest. The eye-catching design (yup, it’s definitely worthy of display on a shelf) and chunky pages (seem pretty indestructible) render it a hit with little and big people alike.
