Toddlers love an interactive book and Nurse Mousey and the Happy Hospital by Sam Lloyd (Templar, RRP £12.99) is a sweet little tale with a quirky twist. Instead of the title character featuring on each page, the reader inserts a card cutout of her into pre-cut slots, to add a 3D element. From the pen of Lloyd, creator of Calm Down, Boris! and other hand puppet books, Nurse Mousey has won Kitty over and she really enjoys shoving gently placing and removing the necessarily sturdy cardboard figure into the book. If I have one criticism it’s that the slots themselves could do with a bit of reinforcement – one of ours has split at the side, although K is quite heavy-handed, so it may not be a universal problem.
