I’m quite a fan of the pushchair we almost owned, the Micralite Fastfold, and the Micralite Toro is a bigger variation with a difference; instead of having the hammock style seat of the Fastfold that gives that distinctive look, it has a typical pushchair seat so it can recline fully – The Fastfold can’t be used by newborns unless they’re in the carrycot.
But…the 3 position seat only faces forward so if you want to see your tot, it’s best to use the carrycot.
It weighs 8kg (the Fastfold is 6.7 kg) with its lightweight aluminium frame but in the context of travel systems, this is still pretty light and it folds down and opens out quite easily with its one one handed fold. The way the carrycot sits on the frame has me wondering if it’s a little bouncy but I haven’t tried this one out like I have the Fastfold.
It’s got pneumatic tyres with a lockable swivel wheel at the front and larger wheels at the rear which is great for manoeuvrability. I’m not sure about the red detail on the wheels which seems a little out of place though. There’s a large shopping basket, it includes an all weather kit, and it comes in a great selection of colours. You can of course use the Maxi Cosi Cabriofix Car Seat on it with the adaptors which may or may not be included depending on your package.
The RRP including the carrycot is £399 and So Baby are selling it for £327.60.
Ideal for: Those on the lookout for a light travel system who don’t mind compromising on the pushchair seat.
Bang for your style buck: Good but..I prefer the Fastfold.
Weight range: Light for a travel system but not as light as its predecessor.
Don’t forget that you can see other pushchairs and prams we’ve featured in our new feature The Pushchair Track.
