It’s amazing what you can do with recycled cardboard (I featured a chopping board made from it over on Nest Goodies a couple of days back) and one of my favourite pieces is the Splat Child’s Chair. I actually saw it in the flesh and gave it a gentle try out a few months ago at the kids.Modern show, but at that stage the London based designer, Sam Logan, who specialises in sustainable design, was still ironing out a few kinks which judging by the photos have been more than ironed out.
Made from laminated cardboard sheets that have been threaded on postal tubes, it features compartments at the back that hold their art supplies and you can store paper under the seat. Suitable from ages 3-6 years, this clever, biodegradable piece of design is going to be on display at an exhibition at the V&A Museum of Childhood. In the meantime, if this tickles your eco sensibilities, you can buy them from Mimi Myne who are the exclusive stockists, for £69 each.
