We rarely go anywhere without an activity book these days. They are often the saviour of a slightly-too-late teatime meal out and invaluable on car journeys and if one sibling has to wait for another to finish a club after school (I’m not sure Alfie would have got through Kitty’s ballet classes without the help of The Harry Potter Colouring Book). Consequently, I’m always on the look out for cool new ones to entertain the troops and the Show + Tell books (Animal Activities and Transport Activities) by Nous Vous (Wide Eyed Editions, £6.99) tick a lot of boxes. Packed with activities such as mazes, dot to dots, matching, spot the difference, colouring challenges and drawing prompts, they also include a sheet of 40 stickers, mainly intended to complete the three large fold-out posters. Vibrant and visually arresting, the Show + Tell series is artists’ collective Nous Vous’s first foray into books for children and I’d recommend them particularly for preschool and reception children as there’s plenty of scope for early reading, counting and mark making. We’ll be packing ours for our half term train journeys.
