I’m pleased to say that Alfie’s a total nature boy, so we spent a couple of hours on Sunday preparing for next weekend’s RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch. We filled all our bird feeders, cored apples and strung them up on a tree and made fat balls (very messy, but fun). Basically, next Saturday or Sunday you need to dedicate just one hour to watching and counting any birds that visit your garden either online or on a paper form and submit the results to the RSPB. Last year, 590,000 people took part, recording over 8 million birds. A great activity to do with your little ones, you can register here, where you’ll also find free bird identification guides, instructions on how to make seed cakes and DIY feeders, plus local events.
