It can be a bit of a conundrum when you have another baby and the older one may not get the full benefit out of you investing in a full on double buggy. The idea of something portable and unobtrusive could be quite attractive.
The Revelo Buggypod Smorph is supposed to solve the problem by being a clip-on side car for your existing pushchair. When it’s not in use, it sits folded away flush against the pushchair and then you just fold it out when you need it. Now surprisingly it says that it is suitable for children from 6 months to 3 years – I say surprisingly as I would have thought this would be more for older children.
It’s won a Mother & Baby magazine Gold award for most innovative product although reading reviews from parents, I see that the concept is quite liked and it tends to get great marks, yet there are consistent gripes about fitting it, the stability, and manoeuvrability.
I do like the concept for occasional use or short trips and I can see why childminders, for instance, would find something like this really useful, but I couldn’t see me using this all the time or for all day out affairs.
Price wise, the RRP is £89.99 and at Kiddicare they’re £79.99. The raincover is separate and costs another £17.99 so it’s just shy of a £100 investment, so imagine that people who really love their current pushchair buy these.
