Bored of the traditional framed photo of the kids as gifts for family members? Here’s a quirky modern alternative from Nottingham-based Pixel Portraits. The deal is that you send them a photograph of your little (or not-so-little) one, you pick a colour (there are 20 shades to choose from) and a pattern (ten, from hearts to targets), plus a frame (black or white) if you want, and they will create a unique portrait using hundreds of tiny pixel patterns. I’ve had a maxi portrait made of Alfie and Kitty – which I can’t show here in case the future recipient spots it – and I couldn’t be more pleased. The effect is just brilliant, close up when you can see the pattern and further away when the image is clearer, and the frame with its polished perspex looks really slick. A4 prints cost £20 (unframed) and £45 (framed), while A3 cost £25 and £60. A fantastic gift – order by 16th December to get in time for Christmas and enter code christmas12 to get 10% off your order. I’ll post a picture of mine in situ on our Facebook page after the festive season.
