If you know a small person who loves making, then stash Paper Robots by Alexander Gwynne (Ivy Kids, RRP £8.99) for their next birthday. It’s a book of 20 press-out paper robots to make, each with their own distinct personality and interests. My fave is Funk, the disco dancer. Obviously. They’re fairly simple to make – you just need a glue stick or double-sided sticky tape – then they’re ready to play with. Ideal for children with vivid imaginations who will doubtless create their own robot universe, the book also contains 36 game cards to enable them to play with their friends. Suggested age range is 8+, but I can see much younger children enjoying this as well. Super-cool.
