In the second of our new family feature we catch up with Gigi, founder of cool site for mums MumsRock…
Our Family: John (41), Gigi (43 – although looks a youngish 42) Kit (3 and a half-ish)
We Live: West London Town, not too far from the Mothership that is Westfield.
Quick description of your home: Urban cottage with too much open-plan living and a patio the size of a large broadsheet newspaper.
Occupations: John is a wage earner (thank goodness one of us is) and I look after the unpredictable herd of galloping goats that is MumsRock.com. We’re still working on the cheese.
Living Style: Punctuated with chocolate.
Favourite shops for parents: Mothership (as before) Also Cos, Uniqlo, boot sales and my local charity shop where I am a frequent flyer.
Favourite shops for kids: Their Nibs, Nixie Dixie, Bread and Jam, Oh Baby London, Smith and Coates & for everyday charity shops & boot sales.
Favourite designers/brands for parents: If I had the money – Anthropologie where I would like to make my home and Vivienne Westwood for my fantasy life in which I’m nearly Nigella Lawson but married to Jack Donnaghey (30 Rock).
Favourite designers/brands for kids: Same as my favourite shops. I hate high street stuff but will put him in Gap or Hennes at a push.
Places To Go: With money and time – anywhere tropical, Thailand, Malaysia, India. Nearer to home the Scilly Islands are awesome and the beaches of the Gower in South Wales are very hard to beat.
What do you do in your spare time? Kew Gardens and London Wetlands (members at both) Richmond Park, visiting friends in country or Brighton. Love getting out and about.
How would you describe your personal style? Amused, disheveled and painfully combative over the remote control.
How would you describe your child’s style? Short, funny, usually unaccountably chirpy.
