We’re loving the latest issue – Boys and Girls – by OKIDO, the arts and science magazine for kids aged 3-8. Very on topic as we’ve not only been talking about boys and girls bodies both at home and at school (they start early these days at school! Jaysus!) but I’ve also been emphasising to my 4-year old that boys and girls can do the same things when she tells my 6-year old that they can’t, it’s a thoroughly enjoyable read with plenty of activities.
We particularly enjoyed the How do you know the difference between a boy and a girl? which prompted a lengthy discussion between the girls about ‘privates’, ”gino’s’ and ‘pennies’… The colouring and drawing pages have kids doing stuff like colouring in toys that are for girls, boys or both, a page of faces to give hairstyles to, and a maze to help the boy and the girl find the correct toilets plus there’s a recipe, craft activities, games and stories. Well worth the £4 per issue (or take out a subscription), OKIDO still remains one of our absolutely most favourite reads.
