If the weather stays anything like it was today, we’re all going to be needing a lot of indoor entertainment for our children. Craft kits are a saviour on a rainy day –  my two love the anticipation of opening the box to reveal what they’re going to be making. Oglee Poglee‘s Adventure Boxes are particularly lovely as they include a story (featuring funny monster/alien character Oglee Pip) to share with your child before you embark on the making extravaganza.
There are four tales to choose from: Space, Ocean, Bugs & Butterflies and The Invention, £18 each, and the boxes contain absolutely everything (including glue – something we always end up wasting time searching for) you need to complete the craft ideas in the box, plus extras, so your little one’s imagination can run wild. Alfie, six, made myriad things with his, including this ‘spacey spider creature’ with a sparkly night sky background (top).
Kitty, three, had a good go at the Woodland Walk Storytelling Kit, £12, and really enjoyed decorating her Oglee Pip and creating a leaf picture on the enclosed canvas (above, now proudly displayed in the kitchen). A big thumbs up from us – I also adore the Little Crafty Surprise party boxes, £3.50 each – a lovely alternative to plastic tat.
