As far as I’m concerned, publishers Nosy Crow can do no wrong with their fun, colourful fairy tale apps for little ones. Now they’ve branched out into science with the Rounds series, exploring the life cycles of animals.
The first release is the tale of Franklin from spawn to tadpole to frog, examining all the things frogs do (hopping, swimming, eating, laying eggs) through beautiful graphic illustrations using only circles and portions of circles, complemented by a simple, but captivating story, narrated by a child.
Alfie was immediately engaged and, as his nursery has been studying tadpoles, the subject held his interest. A lovely little learning tool, the next animal to get the Rounds treatment will be the penguin in November – we’ll keep you posted.  £2.99, The App Store.
