You know we’ve been fangirling over the whole Little People, Big Dreams (Frances Lincoln, RRP £9.99) series of children’s books, and the latest two titles, the first to feature men, do not disappoint. There’s Muhammad Ali, which offers an insight into the life of ‘the greatest’ boxer, whose smart thinking and talking earned him his title. It also focuses on his strong work ethic – a great message for young readers.
You can also discover the extraordinary life of Stephen Hawking, the genius physicist and author and how his curiosity took him to the best universities in England and led him to make one of the biggest scientific discoveries of the 20th century, despite his illness. As the man himself said: ‘No matter how hard life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at.’
These moving books feature stylish and quirky illustrations and extra facts at the back, including a biographical timeline with historical photos and a detailed profile of both of these dreamers.
Finn and Lola squealed with delight (and then had a little squabble about who they were for) and have thoroughly enjoyed reading these and adding them to their collection. As a mama trying to raise strong, inspired, kind children of both sexes, these are a welcome addition to the series. I’m looking forward to seeing who’s next!
