On Wednesday I did Part 1 of My Pregnancy Style where I talked about where I predominantly shop or intend to this time round, plus jeans, leggings and knitwear. Naturally there is still more for me to wear and buy…
Boots & Shoes – I have back issues much earlier than first time round so the amount of heel wearing I’ll be doing will be limited. Still that hasn’t stopped me pining for shoes that I probably would buy but shouldn’t wear like the Camillo shoes from Kurt Geiger on the left. In reality, I have been living in my knitted UGGs, my seriously aged DKNY trainers, and Crocs because my back likes them. But I need just ONE new pair of shoes. They just need to make my feet look foxy without crippling me…
Basics – Almost all of my basics – plain long sleeved or short sleeved tops and spaghetti stringed vests that I’ll pretty much wear underneath everything, especially to extend the life of my non maternity clothing, are from Gap. I just stock up every time there is a sale. They last for ages and are great quality. A tip – tempting as it may be to buy vests with lots of lycra and polyester in them for ‘stretch’, don’t as you’ll be spending the day pulling it over your bump.
Dresses & Tops – I didn’t wear many dresses the last time (I was more tunics) but I do want to find some this time round. I have a white H&M one which I wear with purple footless tights or my knitted leggings. Unfortunately H&M don’t sell online (annoyingly). I have been lusting after the Isabella Oliver Pocket Tunic (pictured left) for a while which I would definitely wear as a dress but could still give it longevity by putting it over my skinny jeans. £110 though. TopShop also have a silvery maternity bodycon dress (£45) which I’m going to have to try on and see if I look slinky in it. You can always try Primark although the season isn’t favouring bumps like it was the first time around when I got lots of tunics and bump accomodating gear. Remember to mix in your Primark with more expensive gear and choose carefully – there’s nothing worse than bumping into lots of your item walking past you…
My palpitation meter went into overdrive when I noted that Isabella Oliver have a clearance sale on with up to 50% off. I’m not planning to buy many tops as I have some great colourful pieces but I’ll have to get one of their Duo Geisha Wrap Tops which are now £42.50 down from £85. Two tops in one that will wrap me in a fabulous cocoon of bump svelteness. I was shocked that there was colour and I’m torn because after moaning about lack of colour in maternity gear, I’m lusting for their pewter and white version…
Lingerie (OK ‘Underwear‘) – I need some underwear fast because I miss my regular bras and have been wearing practical white and black bras that are sporty and comfortable. It’s not knickers I worry about so much as I have a base of Victoria Secret’s, TopShop and Miss Selfridge boy shorts and boudoir-y type stuff plus I regularly stock up at TK Maxx on some seriously good designer knickers. I’m not really a sets person – I like to mix and match so I’ll be checking out bras from brands like Hot Milk and Elle Macpherson. The bra shown is the Silohuette of a Secret Lace by Hotmilk from Figleaves for £33.
Hmmm…it looks like with all this maternity clothing talk, I’ll have to ‘force’ myself to go shopping…
