I loved the concept behind Muddy Creatures as soon as I heard about it. They offer a carefully curated box of Scandinavian childrenswear direct to your door, saving you the hassle of pounding the pavements or trawling the web. All you have to do is sign up on the website, enter details about your child: name, age (newborn to four), height, shoe size, colour preferences, then click on lifestyle shots that encompass the styles you like and you’re done. Then you just sit back and wait for your box of delights to arrive. I signed Kitty up and her box came this week and a delight it was – 34 pieces of gorgeousness from the likes of Mini Rodini, MarMar Copenhagen, Popupshop, Tiny Cottons and Soft Gallery, plus new-to-me Danish brands Mads Nørgaard, MP Denmark and Poppy Rose. They were beautifully organised in coordinating capsules tagged with three of Muddy Creatures’ themes of Happy Go Lucky, Pint-Sized Prints and Over the Fjords and Far Away. Unfortunately, Kitty was too excited to pay attention to those, so she put together her own combinations – see below. I was quite impressed!
There was so much loveliness in the box it was tempting to keep it all, but having recently bought new shoes and swimsuit we couldn’t justify those, plus it was a sunny day when we opened it, so the sweatshirts and tights didn’t seem as appealing. The selection was definitely on the money though – there wasn’t anything I wouldn’t put Kitty in. When you’ve chosen what you want to keep (we couldn’t resist the Mads Nørgaard sparkly striped dress and MP knee socks) you just arrange a return for the remainder, either dropping off at a Collect+ point or by courier (both free) and pay for your goodies. So simple and so preferable to trying on in store or paying upfront for a huge amount of clothing online, only to find you don’t like it in the flesh. A fab idea – Kitty and I will definitely be back next season!
