I was amongst the first of my friends to get pregnant, and I had no chums who could give me an insight into their experiences. Thank goodness Jools Oliver wrote a book.
This is her account of getting pregnant, both pregnancies and the year beyond. She takes you through all the ups and downs and doesn’t hold back even when she ends up looking daft or stroppy. I have to laugh when she talks about over-reacting to Jamie spending too long at the market when she was overdue; I didn’t talk to PapaGeek for a whole evening when he came home half an hour late!
This book delivers an honest and personal account of the journey Jools went on whilst becoming a Mama. Her experience is bound to be a little different from yours and mine but I don’t think these differences detract from the enjoyment of this book.
I would recommend it to anyone who likes to hear about other people’s pregnancy and birth experiences – it is not a manual.
