The latest children’s book to be turned into a musical is Roald Dahl’s Matilda.
The book is possibly one of his most loved and sees a down-trodden Matilda best her horrible family and positively beastly headmistress. The story is packed full of Dahl’s dark humour but ultimately it is about a seemingly weak child using her power to improve her situation. It is probably one for the upper end of our age range and older but I’m guessing the musical medium will lessen the impact of some of the more terrifying parts!
The musical sold out at the Courtyard Theatre and now it heading to the West End. Tickets are on sale now ahead of the show opening in October. Full details and trailer are on the RSC Matilda Musical site.
