The Guardian have featured a handy tutorial by Elen Lewis, author of The Resourceful Mum’s Handbook which gives simple steps for making soft toy ‘monsters’ from scraps of felt.
The idea is, aside from taking pleasure in making your own, that you can also save money on buying soft toys, particularly when you’re on a budget. Looking at the super dodgy weather outside, this could be ideal for a weekend project. You could also expand the idea and use the monsters for pieces of a mobile or if you’re nervous of them being used as toys, they also make great decorative pieces. I shall be trying these out with lots of different colours as you know I’m a colour fiend!
If you really want to get into making soft toys, you must check out Jami’s recent post on Aranzi Aronzo book, Cute Dolls.
If you make your own goodies, we’d love to hear from you! If you have a go at making the felt toys shown, do send in your pics! – features AT bambinogoodies.co.uk
