As soon as I saw Mad About Monkeys by Owen Davey (Flying Eye Books, RRP £12.99), I knew that Alfie would adore it. He’s a real nature boy with monkeys a particular favourite and this book features facts about all 250 species, from their eating habits (macaques swim underwater to find crabs), sleeping places (geladas snooze in huddles on cliffs), habitats and mischievous characteristics. It’s all delivered in a really fun way, with a slightly comic tone – we loved finding out about the Japanese snow monkeys making snowballs and the amazing facial hair of the De Brazza’s Monkey. And all accompanied by Davey’s beautiful graphic illustrations. You can even buy prints from Davey’s own site, £15 each.
