All of the BG family are book lovers. We love finding new delights and collecting old classics. When Lu and I spotted Little Houses: A Counting Book (Laurence King, RRP £9.95) we were both all over it! It’s just gorgeous! It’s a counting book like no other – you learn to count from one to ten with little houses around the world. Lola can count way beyond ten, but she claimed the book as her own as soon as she spotted it, poor old Finn didn’t stand a chance! The illustrations are paper cuts by the clearly talented Helen Musselwhite, each beautiful scene has lots of details to spot and count together. The houses are cut by hand, and she uses coloured and painted paper to build detailed and multi-layered scenes.
We spent a long time talking as we worked through this book and I have promised Lola we’ll have a go at making some paper cut house scenes. Beautiful gift and great for the bookshelf. It’s available from the 7th September but you can preorder now. Thumbs up from BG!Â
